There are times in our lives when we feel overwhelmed by the
actions of other people. No doubt; people can do the strangest things at times,
and trying to understand their motives is often impossible.
The truth is that most of the people are self-centered, and
lack the ability to give of themselves without looking for a reward of some
sort. Society is greedy, and those who do try to contribute, often get pushed
around and abused.
If we try to share God’s love with the lost world, we
frequently encounter people who would spot that desire to do good as a sign of
weakness, and try to take advantage of our gifts for their personal gain.
There are times in our lives when the wrongdoings of others
cause us to feel displaced and lonely. If that happens to us, we mustn’t worry,
or feel as if something wrong has happened. It is only natural to feel this
way, since we really don’t belong to this world.
So if we find ourselves feeling as if nobody understands us,
or as if the behavior of people is outrageous and discouraging, we should take
some time out from the company of others, and just hibernate for a little time
in the Lord.
We need to let go of all that troubles us, and just
concentrate on what God has to say to us; shut off our racing minds and our
over-emotional hearts, and just listen.
Hibernation isn’t easy. The need to get up and do something
is very strong. But even if it takes a few days to reach that place of rest,
where time stands still, and only you and God exist, when you do get there, you
will be able to look at things from a new and fresh perspective – a godly
perspective, and maybe deal with the disappointments better…
I hope we all find the comfort we need to deal with this
harsh world in the beauty and stillness of our Messiah Jesus.
