In my previous blog entry, I talked about the first reason God allows us to go through hard times, seemingly alone. Now, I want to talk about the second reason.
God allows us to go through difficulties “alone”, because He wants us to know our own strengths and abilities, by letting us test them… (I highlighted us, because as I said earlier, I don't believe God is "testing"us...)
God knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows what we are made of, and what we can achieve. Life makes us doubt our own capabilities sometimes. We come across a situation which appears impossible, and we think, I can’t do that… But God says, “Yes, you can,” and pushes us to try. He doesn’t do it because He’s harsh or tough; for as we know, God is merciful and compassionate. He does it because He knows we can succeed…
Not unlike earthly parents. When a child is facing a new experience, they might be afraid to approach it, and worry that they would fail if they did… Does the parent accept it and just allow the child to quit? Or, will they encourage the child to try, reassuring them that they were capable; that they can do it if only they tried?
It’s the same with God. He wants us to achieve our full potential. He wants us to know that we can face the difficulties, and be victorious. He wants us to know that through Him, we can do everything!
God is teaching us His love and He is strengthening our faith and courage when He tells us, “I know you can do it!” He loves us; He won’t let us fall. He only allows us to go through experiences that we can handle. Don't ever doubt that!
Are you facing great difficulties? Well, God must think very highly of you! You should be happy, not sad, to know that God allows great obstacles to come your way. You should look again within your heart, because the faith and the power to overcome are already there; all you have to do is unleash them… With the knowledge that God, the Creator, the almighty, thinks that you are able to do it, what is there to stop you? Only your own doubt and lack of confidence! Think back, to all the times you overcame great obstacles before, and remember, just like in school – The higher the grade, the harder the lesson… God must have a great plan for your life!
Remember, you are never really alone… Jesus is right there by your side; and when things get too much to bear, take a break, and just put your head on His shoulder, and let Him whisper in your ear, “My beloved… I’m so very proud of you!”
Good night!
