Sabbath Queen

Today, in honor of the Sabbath, I want to share this song with you. It is called Sabbath Queen; it was sung by Ofra Haza, a popular Israel singer, who died a few years ago. It is a lovely song, and I hope you'll enjoy it...

Shabbat Hamalka

Ba'arov hayom, eyt shak'ah hahamah,
Az tifros k'nafah, hazakah hatamah.
V'etzeya l'kablah b'shir ut'filah,
Et shabbat hakalah.

Ma na'amt shabbat hamalkah
Mish'mey rom tirdi zoheret,
V'ha'el yifros b'rahah
L'umah nivheret.
La la la...

Lah eynai esah, v'nafshi tif'am,
R'ee simhat libi b'simhat olam.
Sh'vi imanu at hazakah, mizmorim lah nashir,
Ziv k'vodeh yaz'hir.

Ma na'amt shabbat hamalkah
Mish'mey rom tirdi zoheret,
V'ha'el yifros b'rahah
L'umah nivheret.
La la la...

R'ee dolkim neirot, ot hu lihvodeh,
Kessem v'kdushah heym noskim b'vo'eh.
At malkah m'sos nugim, at hemdat hayamim,
Midorot k'dumim.

Ma na'amt shabbat hamalkah
Mish'mey rom tirdi zoheret,
V'ha'el yifros b'rahah
L'umah nivheret.
La la la...

Sabbath Queen

When the day darkens, at the time of sunset,
Then the pure one, the perfect one, spreads her wings.
And I go forth to greet her in song and prayer,
The sabbath bride.

How beautiful are you, Sabbath Queen,
Descending in splendor from the highest heaven,
And the Lord will spread a blessing over the chosen people.
La la la...

I raise my eyes to you and my soul trembles,
See how my heart rejoices with the whole world's joy.
Stay with us, pure one, we will sing hymns for you,
And the light of your glory will shine forth.

How beautiful are you, Sabbath Queen,
Descending in splendor from the highest heaven,
And the Lord will spread a blessing over the chosen people.
La la la...

See the candles glowing as a symbol in your
honor,
They pour forth magic and holiness at your coming.
You, Queen, make the sad joyful, you most delightful of days,
From generations of antiquity.

How beautiful are you, Sabbath Queen,
Descending in splendor from the highest heaven,
And the Lord will spread a blessing over the chosen people.
La la la...

Stay blessed, and stay tuned
